Since
Mohlomi was initiated at the age of 13 he felt that he was called to become a doctor,
to heal the sick and care for the weak and needy. He studied nature, man and
soul. He was famous to combine physical medicine with psychological treatment.
Mohlomi
also had a great insight in the laws of weather and nature. Therefor many
believed he was the best rain maker. In reality he rejected to be seen as a
witchdoctor! More so, he spoke fiercely against any kind of witchcraft and
witchdoctors, and often tried to expose them.
He was also
a great family man. Obviously a little bit different from how we would see it
today, but for his time he became a great patriarch. He married 40 wives, many
of them daughters of chiefs of other tribes and together with them he had many
children. But he did not only marry all those ladies, he took care for them and
for all his children and loved them.
Having
so many wives of several tribes, he also connected many cultures in his own new
tribe. When
Mohlomi died at the age of 95 years in 1815, he died as a happy and wise man,
his own family included more than 1000 people.
What a
great impact this extraordinary man had on the society of the 18th
and 19th century!
Obviously
we live in the 21th century and most of us will not have more than 1 partner
and a few great kids (luckily so). But still, the question remains: what kind
of impact do you want to have on society today? And are you willing to live a
life that shows in reality what you want others to do!?
